This
event, currently in its fourth year gave
sommeliers & wine professionals a chance to compete for the coveted Puddifoot Award.
Entry to the
competition was completely FREE with no one formal education style preferred
over another, thus ensuring a completely level playing field. The Sommelier
Challenge was only open to competitors currently employed in the wine
trade.
The competition took place on Monday March 16th and the winner (Keith Nicholson from Le Crocodile) was presented
with the Puddifoot Award (an engraved glass trophy, a Riedel carafe
& a bottle of vintage port) by Mr John Puddifoot at the Riedel in
the Home: The Glory of The Glass event on Thursday, March 26th. Keith will also receive a Trade Super Pass to the 2010 Playhouse International
Wine Festival.
